Acton Bridge Parish Rooms

Classes are normally held on Tuesday evenings at Acton Bridge Parish Rooms – use CW8 3RA for SatNav.

Our classes start at 7.30 p.m. and finish at 9.30 p.m. with refreshments during the evening.

This class is attended by those new to Scottish Country Dancing and also regular dancers who want to maintain their dancing skills. Beginners will be supported not only by our teacher, Ann Smith, but by others who can already dance. All dances are walked through.

This is a fun way to learn and very sociable. Individuals are welcome as well as couples and we all interchange so that everyone gets used to dancing with different partners. We learn reels, jigs and strathspeys (a slower tempo) which are danced in longwise and square “sets”.

We invite potential new members to come along for a taster session. We don’t wear Scottish attire at our regular classes, just ordinary comfortable clothing and lightweight soft, flexible shoes.

If you decide you like it, and want to come regularly, it costs £5 a year to join the Society and £2 each evening you attend a class.
